Women demobilise Boko Haram insurgents in Borno.

MAIDUGURI-- Residents of Attagara and Kawuri villages in Gwoza and Bama local government areas of Borno State, respectively, repelled attacks on their community by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. A resident said the attackers invaded the village yesterday on motorcycles but met some women, adding "they wanted to hit the women with sticks but when they raised the sticks, their hands refused to descend."

"Three of the insurgents fled, but seven were not lucky as the women alerted the people," and the vigilante group in the community rushed to the scene, disarmed the seven insurgents, who were later lynched. Attagara, a border community with Cameroon is about 10 kilometres South-East of Pulka District in Gwoza Local Government Area of the state and about 130 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Also, scores of gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram were killed yesterday through the combined efforts of members of the vigilante youths, otherwise known as Civilian JTF, and the military in Kawuri village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. *Click here to continue: www.vanguardngr.com/2014/05/women-demobilise-boko-haram-insurgents-borno/ .

The relationship between indecent dressing and rape

Many people (especially men) readily blame indecent dressing on
hearing about rape cases without getting full details of each case.
Are all rape victims to blame? Wait and see.

It is easy to blame an adult woman for dressing indecently, accepting
drinks and/or lifts, entering a man's room alone, asking for money or
gifts, begging for marks, etc. But what of babies who get raped?

A 6-week-old baby in South Africa was smuggled out of her mother's
room and raped by her maternal uncle while her mum and grandmum were
watching TV ( www.au.ibtimes.com/articles/525997/20131129/baby-infant-rape-child-abuse-south-africa.htm
) . Was she indecently dressed? Even if she was fully naked, what is in
her body at that age to arouse any sane man?

Not all rape victims were indecently dressed. Not all indecently
dressed women end up raped. Some celebrities like Maheeda and
Afrocandy arouse men online and go scotfree while the men descend on
defenceless children if they can't afford prostitutes or their
girlfriends refuse to enter their rooms alone before marriage.

Let's join hands to throw both the rapists and the indecently dressed
women behind bars and stop making excuses for either.

Boko Haram plans to abduct boys to marry abducted girls

The Principal of Government College, Makurdi, Mr Godfrey Ugudu, on
Saturday said the school had received a letter from the Boko Haram
sect threatening to attack the school.

Ugudu, who announced this at a news conference in Makurdi on Saturday,
added that the school received two letters which had the same content
on May 14.

"It is true that we saw two letters informing us of the intention of
the sect to invade our school on Friday or Monday. The letters were
dated May 14, 2014, stating that they were coming either of the two
days to abduct our boys whom they would marry to the secondary school
girls abducted in Chibok. In the letter, we were asked to inform the
Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School opposite us to also get prepared
as they promised to invade the place too.''

According to him, "We immediately alerted the police and the
Commissioner for Education. A report has been made to the Governor on
the issue. One of the two copies of the letter, written in pidgin
English, was sighted inside one of the classrooms and the second one
was slipped into the staff room'', he said.

The principal commended the government and security operatives in the
state for their prompt response to the issue.
He said that everything had been done to ensure the safety of the
school children, adding that he had informed the Principal of Mount
Saint Gabriel.

About 500 out of about 700 students of the college are living in the
school while Mount Saint Gabriel is a purely boarding school.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Dan Ezeala,
confirmed the report and assured that the police were on top of the
situation.

Yahoo Mail or Gmail : Which is better?

I used both Gmail and Yahoo mail accounts for about 5 years. I personally prefer Gmail because of the following reasons:

 1. I couldn't access the Yahoo account through my mobile phone ,even when I moved up from Nokia 2700 to Nokia Asha 210. I was always asked to sign in from a computer. Yahoo mail is advisable only for people with laptops and PCs. Imagine being able to sign in to your Yahoo account only when you visit a cyber cafe. What if you are living or working in a cafe-less village or town? You won't know whether your account has been infiltrated and is being used for shady deals. Some cafe computers have applications that can store your password for later use even if you don't click on REMEMBER PASSWORD! Gmail can be accessed from any browsing phone.

2. While you can apply more than one LABEL to a mail in Gmail, you can only move a mail to a single FOLDER in Yahoo Mail.

3. Gmail's FILTERS automatically apply prespecified labels to each incoming mail. Yahoo mails have to be manually sorted into folders by you,the account owner.

A test of love

GIRL: Honey, there's something I want us to talk about.
It's so serious!

BOY: Please don't tell me you are pregnant!

GIRL: I'm coming to stay with you coz u know my mum
will be mad at me and will not allow me to
stay with her once she finds out am pregnant . (sobs)

BOY: Listen, I don't want to know. I always gave you
the money to buy E-pills.

GIRL: But it can happen by
accident! (sobs)

BOY: Accident my foot!
Listen and listen well eh! I don't want to see your face
in this house. Let me not see you come here!

GIRL: Oh my God! So that's how
heartless you are huh? Thank God I'm not pregnant!

BOY: Baby, you know...

GIRL: Shut up! And as you said you will never see my face
in your house,...

BOY: I'm sorry...

GIRL: (Smiles) Sorry my foot....

SHOULD THE GIRL FORGIVE THE BOY?

Boko Haram on the rampage in Borno: Kills 56, abducts 5 cops, 10 Chinese, burn village, seizes armoured vehicle

No fewer than 56 persons were killed by Boko Haram insurgents in
separate attacks in several areas of Borno State at the weekend. The
sect also abducted five policemen and seized the Armoured Patrol
Vehicle (APC) the policemen were using.
This is even as a Chinese national was feared killed and 10 others
kidnapped after an overnight attack by the sect in Kuseri village
between Gamboru Ngala council area and Cameroon Republic, also
yesterday.

In one of the attacks, at least 40 villagers were killed and several
others injured yesterday's evening by gunmen suspected to be Boko
Haram members in Dalwa-Masuba village of Damboa Local Government area
of Borno State, security sources and witnesses said.

The gunmen who were reported to have attacked the villages in their
large numbers also burnt down the entire village alongside three
pickup vans carrying firewood from Damboa to Maiduguri, the state
capital.

A member of the security vigilantes, Abbas Gava, who spoke on phone,
said no security personnel had reached the attacked town at the time
he was speaking.

"We heard about the attack from some of the villagers who fled the
village, and we had to drive there on our patrol van. The entire
village was set on fire, and about 40 persons were lying dead all over
the place; their firewood pickups were also set ablaze", the local
vigilante said.

But the attack, however, has not been confirmed by the police and
other security operatives, as all their phone numbers could not be
reached for confirmation as at press time.

Man Mysteriously Dies In Grave Trying To Exhume Body In Osun

An unidentified man suspected to be a ritual killer has been
mysteriously killed in Osun state while trying to exhume a buried
corpse.

According to reports gathered on the strange incident which took place
in Ilobu community, located in the Irepodun Local Govenrment Area of
Osun state, the supposed ritualist was found dead, half buried in a
grave from which he had tried to cut off the head of an aged woman who
had been buried there.

A source in the community who spoke to newsmen revealed that the
corpse had been buried for over 5 years and that the man found dead
did not operate alone.

"This particular corpse was buried five years ago and the suspected
ritualist attended the burial in Ilobu. There are indications that he
did not dig the grave alone.
What we discovered is that he may have been attempting to cut off the
head of the corpse when something suddenly hooked him as he managed to
force half of his body into the grave to cut off the head.
He got hooked and died on the spot, a development which possibly
compelled other ritualists to run away from the scene so that they may
not be affected by the mysterious thing that killed their colleague",
the source said.

Speaking on how the residents of Ilobu got to know about the incident,
the source explained that the half-buried body of the suspected
ritualist was discovered by a hawker in the early hours of the day.

"A woman who was hawking ogi (a local corn meal) early in the morning
of Wednesday spotted the torso of the suspect sticking out of the
grave and raised the alarm. His corpse was discovered around 6.30am and
his head was covered in mud. The residents here alerted the police
division in Ilobu and they later came to evacuate the body and put it
in their van before taking him away," he said.

The remains of the deceased were said to have been deposited at the
Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) mortuary in
Osogbo ,the state capital.

20 children kidnapped in Calabar in 3 months + Their tricks that parents should watch out for.

(on April 12, 2014 at 6:27 pm)

With over 20 kids abducted in three months in Calabar, the stories
surrounding their disappearance are like tales from the moon, but what
is happening to kids between the ages of three and six in the Cross
River State capital, is far from tales; they are real-life incidents
which are sending shivers down the spine of many parents.

Since February, men from hell have besieged the city, snatching
children suspectedly for ritual purposes or sale to barren women
around the city who allegedly pay triple digit amounts for the kids.

The Cross River State House of Assembly and the State Security
Adviser, Mr Rekpene Bassey, disturbed by the trend, raised the alarm
but this has not yielded any results. The police in the state are yet
to make arrest on the kidnapped children.

Describing the modus operandi of the abductors, Bassey said they would
position themselves in busy areas to watch out for parents who park
cars with children inside to abduct the kids. In other cases, the
thieves abduct children playing outside their residences. Others are
snatched while on errand or on the way to or from school. And in some
daring cases , the abductors snatch kids from parents while pretending
to offer them lift. The security adviser warned parents to beware of
child kidnappers and assured that security agencies had been placed on
the alert over the situation.

In one of the cases of child kidnapping which occurred on March 23, a
four-year-old, Nsew Udo Akpan, was snatched by abductors while playing
outside his home with his sister at Atekong Street, Biq Qua Town.
Another 4-year-old-boy, Effiong Edet, was abducted in Ikot Onim area
of Calabar by hoodlums who raided the community in an Audi car with
the number plate covered.

The kidnappers struck at about 8:30 pm on Wednesday March 12 while the
local vigilante members, majority of whom are said to be football
lovers, were preoccupied with watching the Arsenal match against a
Turkish football club in the European league.

The gang , on arrival at the community, reportedly drove to the Edets'
compound where they sighted the boy (Effiong) and his friends
playing.

The hoodlums first attempted to whisk away a six-year old boy,
identified as Joseph, who resisted his assailants by crying and biting
one of the kidnappers on the hand which caused them to abandon him .
Then ,they seized Effiong who they bundled into their car and sped
off.

In February, a three-year-old boy, Victor Offiong-Edem, was taken away
by unknown persons at the Assemblies of God Church, located at 14,
Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Calabar South, during Sunday service. The father
of the boy, Mr Offiong Edem, a staff of the College of Health
Technology, Calabar, told Sunday Vanguard that he took his family to
the church on the fateful day. After the offering, he went to work and
left Victor in the company of his wife, Angelica, and his other son,
Samuel, but was later informed that Victor had gone missing".

Parents, 6 Sons Sexually Abused Girl For Nearly A Decade (14.05.2014, 18:11 Foreign)

Parents and their six sons were arrested for the alleged sexual abuse
of their 16-year-old sister/daughter.

According to the sheriff of a small county in northeast North
Carolina, Eric Tilley, the alleged abuse by the brothers, ranging in
age from 19 to 27, began when the girl was 4 years of age and
continued until she was almost 15.

Authorities have identified the brothers as Aaron Jackson, 19,
Benjamin Jackson, also 19, Nathaniel Jackson, 21, Mathew Jackson, 23,
Jon Jackson, 25, and Eric Jackson, 27.

Charges against the brothers range from rape to sexual assault,
according to Tilley.
The men's parents, John Jackson, 65 and Nita Jackson, 54, face charges
of felony child abuse.
The sheriff stated that part of the investigation revealed that, at
one point, the mother observed some of this activity and never did
anything about it.
Tilley described the family as "bizarre" and said he believes the
father is "anti-government" and "anti-schools."
"The children were home-schooled with very limited education," said
the sheriff. "They were very private and the whole yard has a fence
around it -- like a little compound. They're very different."

The allegations of abuse surfaced in December 2012, when Eric Jackson
allegedly told the pastor at Hope Baptist Church in Wake Forest, North
Carolina, about the alleged abuse.
After speaking with the pastor, Eric Jackson allegedly went to the
Perquimans County Sheriff's Office and told them that he, along with
five of his siblings, had been sexually abusing their sister.
"From there, we had two more brothers confirm what he said," Tilley said.

Despite the alleged confessions, police needed more evidence to make
arrests in the case. For that, they attempted to speak with the
alleged victim, but she and her parents moved to Colorado.

"I sent one of my investigators to Colorado and he had an eight-hour
interview with her," Tilley said. "She confirmed everything her
brothers told us."

All six of the brothers were arrested on May 6 and are being held on a
$150,000 bond. The parents are currently free on a $15,000 bond.

"I Know Where the Female Students Are but I Won't Tell Anybody" --Senator Opens Up

Nigeria is at a crossroads and that is the explanation for this
madness going on. While the international community and countries like
the USA, France, China, and the UK are strategizing on how to rescue
the over two hundreds girls kidnapped from their school in Chibok,
Borno State, a Nigerian senator representing Borno North, Senator
Ahmed Zanna, has said he won't tell anyone where the abducted girls
are being kept.

As an insider, he was asked where the girls are. The senator said: "I
won't tell where they are being kept again because I have told the
Federal Government where they are likely being kept before the video
was released. Now that I saw the video, the vegetation in the clip
confirmed what I have told them earlier. If they want to know where
they are being kept, then the government should remember what I told
them before. What I can tell you is that the girls are no longer here
in Chibok."

Senator Zanna made this declaration on Monday on CNN when he was being
interviewed by Isha Sesay.
When the lawmaker was asked by the reporter about what he felt about
the latest video released on Monday by the Boko Haram terror group
showing some of the abducted school girls, the senator said he
experienced mixed feelings when he saw the video.
Sen. Zanna opined that while he was happy to know that the kidnapped
girls are still alive, he also informed that he felt sad to realise
that the teenagers are being used as ransoms by the terrorists in
exchange for some of the members captured by the military.

While saying he was privy to information about the movement of the
insurgents when the girls were abducted, the Senator said he told
security agents that contrary to their belief that the abducted girls
were in Sambisa forest with their abductors, that they have since been
split and ferried through Lake Chad to neighbouring countries among
which he said were Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

Senator Zanna blamed the military for failing to rescue the girls
before the development given that they got all the necessary
information about the movement of the insurgents from him personally.

Borno residents overpower and kill over 200 Boko Haram members

200 Boko Haram Terrorists Killed By Locals In Kala-Balge LGA,
Borno14.05.2014, 16:48 Local

About 200 suspected Boko Haram terrorists lost their lives yesterday
in a failed attempt to ravage the town of Rann, headquarters of
Kala/Balge LGA of Borno State, as local residents retaliated.

The BBC and AFP information agencies, as well as Sahara Reporters have
confirmed the story first published by Nigeria's Daily Trust and
Naij.com.

In the early hours of May 13, from 300 to 400 insurgents disguised in
military outfits stormed Rann and nearby Kalabage village in two
armoured tanks, eight Hilux pick-up vehicles, and seven SUVs, also
painted in Nigerian army colors, according to eyewitnesses. They were
met by armed locals who had knowledge of the impending attack.

Residents say they have formed a vigilante group since the mlitary are
not doing enough to protect ordinary Nigerians. A trader from
Kalabalge said this is why most attacks by Boko Haram on their village
have been repelled.

As soon as they gathered the information of the impending attack,
local men positioned themselves in surrounding bushes and forests,
armed with bows and arrows, dane guns and pump action rifles.

Speaking to the AFP on condition of anonymity, a Borno official
disclosed that at least 10 insurgents have been detained, scores
killed and injured. A number of motorcycles were recovered from the
insurgents, as well as several Toyota Hilux vehicles and an armoured
personnel carrier.

An anonymous eyewitness, who spoke to the BBC Hausa Service, said the
area was "littered with bodies" after the fighting, adding he counted
50 bodies of the insurgents in one village, and 150 in another. Some
vigilantes are said to have also lost their lives and sustained
injuries in the fighting, but the numbers are yet to be ascertained.

Also, according to Sahara reporters, the state's Governor Kashim
Shettima is to visit Kalabalge later this week.
Kala-Balge LGA lies along the shores of the Lake Chad, sharing border
with Cameroon.

Despite the emergency rule imposed on the state a year ago, Borno
State has been a constant target for Boko Haram attacks.

Over 200 female students were kidnapped by the sect on April 14 from
Chibok town. Ngala LGA of the state has also been hit, as over 300
persons were killed on May 5; another 30 lost their lives on May 8,
when a bridge linking Nigeria to Cameroon was bombed by the sect.

French Sources Say Kidnapped Chibok Girls Are Now In Central Africa

(11.05.2014, 11:36 Local time)

French news medium, Jeune Afrique, has said that the kidnapped Chibok
girls have been seen in troubled Central African Republic with armed
men.
They said the girls were seen with armed men in Birao, a small village
in the north of CAR.

The French report was translated by Punch reporters and it states
that: "The Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram have passed
through the northern CAR, escorted by armed men. Based on several
testimonies of inhabitants, the women arrived Wednesday, April 30
aboard trucks.

"They were guarded by heavily armed men, who spoke English, and also
members of the former (CAR) rebel group Seleka."
Seleka is an Islamic rebel militia that took over the CAR government
last year and has put in their leader as President. The group has been
carrying out several executions, rape and looting, making France send
more troops to the troubled area.

The French paper continued: "According to our source, the convoy of
two trucks and a pickup was previously seen at Tiroungoulou (about 170
kilometres southwest of Birao) and perhaps Chad."

"Upon arrival, some were frightened, cried and were violently rebuked
in English. The girls and their guardians were then housed for several
days in a house. The group reportedly left the scene on the night of
Sunday to Monday, May 4 to 5, without a trace," the report said.

Meanwhile, the Cameroonian government has denied reports that most of
the girls were married off in the country.
